Department of Electronic Engineering Team Wins Grand Jury Prize at the 2026 Makerthon Competition
Date:2026-06-01

The Department of Electronic Engineering is proud to announce that a student team supervised by Professor Hsiung-Cheng Lin won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2026 Makerthon Competition, organized by the Ministry of Education. The team received the competition's highest honor along with a NT$250,000 cash award.

The team, "XD I Will Not Give In," was cultivated through NCUT's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Program for Colleges and Universities. Competing against 63 teams and 185 finalists from technical and vocational universities across Taiwan, the team impressed the judges with its project, "GoGoFood: Campus Autonomous Smart Meal Pickup Vehicle."

Inspired by the issue of campus food surplus, the project combines an autonomous vehicle, RFID student identification, and an automated meal dispensing system to create a smart meal pickup platform. It also incorporates meal box collection and food waste recycling, promoting sustainable resource circulation and supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

This achievement reflects the students' creativity, teamwork, and technical excellence, as well as Professor Hsiung-Cheng Lin's dedicated mentorship. The Department of Electronic Engineering extends its sincere congratulations to Professor Lin and the student team and wishes them continued success in their future academic and entrepreneurial endeavors.
